The Green Party Needs YOU 🫵

Party leader Roderic O'Gorman TD is looking to bring a new Youth Policy to Policy Council and is asking us for help. We're grateful for the opportunity to have our say and we have two chances for you to get involved in this process!

We have an online meeting this Wednesday at 8 PM , and everyone is welcome to join!

For those based in Dublin or who want to come in and hang out with us, we will be having an in-person event in the city centre next Tuesday April 15th, at 7 PM with FREE pizza on Roderic.

Members are welcome to join both events as it is likely different things will be discussed in each session, however, you do need to register.

On March 26th we have a tour slot booked in The Dáil. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about how democracy works in Ireland and meet some TDs and Senators. It’ll also mean getting to meet some fellow Young Greens!

Have you ever dreamed of scoring a screamer past a Green TD?  Or just having a bit of outdoor fun with your fellow Young Greens?

Óige Ghlas are hosting a Five-A-Side Football match vs. some councilors, former TDs, and others from the party ranks to fundraise for the Young Green coffers! 

It will take place next week, Saturday the 22nd of February, meeting from 3:30 PM with Kick Off at 3:50!

The location is Botany Bay Tennis Courts, Trinity College Dublin, Dublin2

All skill levels are welcome! You don't need to have played Football or 5-A-Side before, and Teams will be rotated frequently to make sure everyone gets equal paying time! If football isn't you're thing you are more than welcome to come along and spectate what should be a thrilling game :)

Players will have access to the changing rooms/showers in the nearby Sports Centre for before/afterwards if necessary (Although players will have to be changed and out by 5:30 after the game)

We will also be heading for a few drinks and a bit of socialising in a nearby pub afterwards!

We’re hosting a Think-In and Regroup Session to reflect on everything that happened in 2024, strategise what happens in 2025, and how to have the biggest impact on the party going forward.
Expect a lively session with plenty of discussions. There’ll be opportunities to share your thoughts, connect with other Young Greens, and shape the direction of our movement.

We’ll also have some light refreshments (and maybe some biscuits, because who doesn’t love biscuits? ).

We’ll have workshops, panel discussions and elect our 2024/25 Óige Ghlas Executive Committee, followed by some post-convention pints🍻 With a general election looming this is the perfect time to get involved! Members will have received an email with a link to register.

Another day, another hustings 📢 The Deputy Leader of the Green Party will be elected at a Special Online Convention on Sunday, July 14th at 3pm. You will need to be in attendance at this online convention to vote. If you are a full Green Party member you will have received an email with more details. 

Join us for our online Deputy Leadership Hustings tomorrow with the three candidates Neasa Hourigan, Ossian Smyth and Roisín Garvey on Monday, 9th of July. Each candidate will get 30 minutes to answer questions from you and lay out their vision for the party and Óige Ghlas 🕺 We'll kick off at 7pm. We’re heading to Conradh na Gaeilge on Harcourt Street for some craic, a few pints and a some chats as gaeilge. Join us!

On Tuesday, February 20th, we are hosting a webinar on drug policy in Ireland. First there will be a disuccsion amongst represntatives from civil society about current drug policy in Ireland from 7pm-8pm. This will be followed by a discussion on the political perspectives on drug policy with Neasa Hourigan TD and Aodháin Ó Ríordáin TD, taking place between 8pm-9pm. Please register now.

We are organising a visit for new (and some existing members) to come into Leinster House on the evening of Wednesday September 27th. We will meet with Green Party TDs and Senators in the Parliamentary Party Room followed by a Q&A session with some local Green Party councillors. There will also be a tour of Government buildings, before we finish up for a few drinks in the Dáil bar.
