Trans Policy Workshop

  • Boole 5 University Collage Cork Cork (map)

Event organised as part of UCC Students' Union Trans & Non-Binary Awareness Week.

The Gender Recognition Act is due to be reviewed in 2018. This review is expected to be concerned with the recognition of people aged 16 & 17, as well as possibly allowing for legal recognition of identities outside the male/female binary.

The aim of this workshop is to work with people from all political groups and none to improve their party's policies on transgender rights, as well as providing a direction for any lobbying to independent members of the Oireachtas ahead of the review, and its suggested changes.

The workshop will give a brief background to the history of transgender rights in Ireland, where we've come since the 2015 Act and where we should be going, including policies not relating to the 2015 Act.
